Collaboration with United Nations Environment Programme- International Environment Technology Centre (UNEP-IETC)
The International Environmental Technology Centre (IETC) is a branch of the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) / Division of Technology, Industry and Economics (DTIE). The UNEP-IETC works for the development and application of technologies for sustainable development in developing countries. UNEP-IETC is currently focusing on waste management issues.
UNEP-IETC has recently developed a consortium with five universities- Asian Institute of Technology (Thailand), Kyoto University (Japan); Tongji University (China), The Energy and Resources Institute (New Delhi) and Griffith University (Australia). The aim of the consortium is to design and develop a 33 credit curriculum on ‘Holistic Waste Management’, targeting one-year professional Master’s Degree or Certification Course, and specialised training courses and summer school programmes. The one year degree course will start from August 2015.
UNEP IETC has become a partner to the project. UNEP IETC shall be contributing content to the toolkit, and experts from the panel from the Centre are also expected to interact. There could be a participation of one of the UNEP IETC experts in the June workshop of the Project.
